Outlaws & Gents Marks 10 Years of Small-Batch USA Grooming

San Antonio, Texas — May 2026. Outlaws & Gents Grooming Co. marks ten years in 2026, a decade since the brand started as small batches of beard oil mixed at home by owner Shayne Brown. What began as personal frustration with overpriced commodity grooming products that "were essentially overpriced garbage" — Brown's words — has grown into a full hair, beard, and tattoo-and-skin care line, formulated, manufactured, filled, packaged, and shipped in the United States.

From kitchen counter to barbershop shelves

The brand's early years were defined by experimentation. "Formulations I expected to be game-changers fell flat," Brown says. "Seemingly odd combinations produced the best performance and the most compelling scents. I had to unlearn what the industry was telling me a beard oil should smell like before I could make one I actually wanted to wear."

Work spread from the early oils to beard balms and body butters. Demand grew faster than one man production could meet. After a multi-year search, Outlaws & Gents partnered with a U.S. manufacturer willing to work at small-batch minimum order quantities — an unusual fit that preserved the brand's quality bar while letting it scale. Customers began asking for hair styling products. Hair pomade and hair cream were developed. The line expanded into apparel and tattoo aftercare, anchored by the multi-purpose beard body butter that doubles as a skin moisturizer and ink-color enhancer for tattooed men.

The made-in-USA position, taken seriously

"Made in USA" is a phrase used so loosely it's nearly meaningless. Outlaws & Gents takes it seriously: every product is designed, formulated, manufactured, filled, packaged, and shipped in the United States. Some packaging components — tins, bottles — are still imported as the brand works to bring those onshore. Ingredients are largely U.S.-sourced, with exceptions for materials that simply aren't produced domestically (argan oil, fundamentally Moroccan, being the clearest example).

The price reflects that. "Small-batch USA manufacturing with quality ingredients costs more than mass-produced overseas formulations," Brown says. "We chose quality and craftsmanship over margin. That's the deal: the consumer pays a bit more, the consumer gets a better product, and the consumer's dollars go to US based manufacturing workers. We're not the cheapest grooming brand and we're not trying to be."

What's next

The brand is expanding its wholesale program for independent barbershops and men's salons, and continuing to publish long-form grooming guides on the Grooming Tips blog. The complete product line is available at https://outlawsandgents.com/collections/all.
